Field season is in full swing!
Each year, Ancient Forest Society sets out to climb our precious ancient trees to conduct inspections, engage in research, and collect cones and seeds to support reforestation efforts.
We engage experienced climbers from all over the world and do our best to support our volunteers as they help us do the important work in ancient tree study and conservation. This year, we kicked off the season in the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Climbing our study trees to collect data at various times of day is something that inspired many school children as they made their way through the trails. Our work is valuable and important and sharing it with those who love these beautiful sequoias is another critical aspect of our mission. Join us in supporting our efforts as we travel throughout the giant sequoia groves in California.
